Apartment Review
The Michelson Organization and The Hamptons
Review Date: 6/11/2009 Reviewer: Anonymous
My experience living at the Hampton's was great until it came to the end. We submitted a verbal 60 day notice and was sent a renewal form for a year renewal. After reading the the renewal we realized it was not for a month to month lease as we requested. I called the office and was told the month to month lease would be 1284 dollars for our 1200 sq ft 2 br apt. I was told an email would suffice and was under the understanding that was for the month to month lease and termination since i noted we would be moving out june 1. The same night i called and left a message with the property manager Ashley Herndon that we where only signing up for one extra month. We agreed we where moving out at the first of june and would pay the month to month price for one month. My brother then left a hand written in the night drop box note saying we would be moving out June 1st the following day and this was on april 30th and we where told that was all we needed to do. After moving out and returning the keys I received a call saying we had broken our lease and we owed for an extra month. I called to question this and was told we owed 1189.62 for rent & damages, which i was ok with even though it seemed a little excessive for damages. To say i was perturbed would be an understatement. My brother showed up the following day to ask Ashley why they were being unreasonable about the situation and was treated as tho we had no class. Ashley rolled her eyes and sighed toward the other office members of the staff while my brother asked simple questions about how this could have happened without so much of a call to HIM since he was the one of two lease's on the lease. Very unprofessional, and considering the days and times we live in financially a little hard hearted on their part. We did everything we were asked todo and still are getting the bad end of the deal so my advice is to check out another place. Its a beautiful place to live, but a terrible company to rent from. |
